“Keeper Of The Forest” by Isaac Wishart
In this fairytale scene, clusters of bioluminescent fungi (Mycena chlorophos) glow green surrounding the cryptic leaf-tailed gecko (Saltuarius swaini). The name Saltuarius comes from Latin, meaning “keeper of the forest” a fitting title for this fascinating creature. Found only in the ancient rainforests of South East Queensland, this image was captured in Queensland’s first national park, Tamborine Mountain. Capturing this photo challenged my skills and pushed me to try new techniques. Balancing the mix of long exposure photography while incorporating a flash was a difficult task. This experience and the end result made for one of my most memorable photography moments.
