"On the Reef" by Evie Wilderness
Jungarra Ngarrian (also known as Cook Island) is one of my all time favourite places to take underwater wildlife photography. I was lucky enough to come across and photograph one of my all time favourite species, the White Spotted Guitar Fish. I stayed with this particular guitarfish for around five minutes as it glided around the shallows, capturing this top down image as it swam above some gorgeous coral and rocks. Super cool species to observe and have the privilege of photographing. Sadly, White Spotted Guitarfish are endangered due to overfishing and habitat loss, making encounters like this even more special and an important reminder of why protecting our marine ecosystems matters so much.
