"The upside down" by Jon Wright

This image was photographed on a perfect summer’s day at Kirra Beach.
One of my favourite things to do is wander around the headland searching for quintessential Gold Coast beach scenes, especially when the water is crystal clear. I was sitting on the boardwalk, taking in just how stunning the ocean looked, when I noticed the umbrella making its way towards the surfers below.
 
I quickly switched the camera on and fired off around four frames before the moment disappeared. Back at the office, this image instantly stood out. I loved the way the umbrella is inverted and everyone around them is watching, adding a slightly unexpected twist to an otherwise classic beach scene. Sometimes the best photos are the ones you nearly miss while supposedly “taking a break.”
